The area of the Anapia and Yuspique Islands are named after Wiñaymarca, which means "always young place". This group of islands is located on the "Lake Titicaca Menor" near the border with Bolivia, Anapia is composed of five islands: Yuspique, Ccaño, Caana, Anapia and Patahuata. The communities that own the Archipelago are Caana and Suana. The population of some two hundred families, is dedicated to agriculture, livestock and fishing. Anapia offers world travelers an extraordinary experiential tourism experience.
The lodging and feeding services in Anapia are given in the houses, and they have capacity for about fifty travelers. The rooms are warm and the beds are covered with warm blankets that make you forget the cold of the night. The meals that are served are simple and based on potatoes, since the archipelago produces magnificent tubers of great variety that are accompanied with lots of fresh trout and geese.
It is located on Lake Titicaca, in the part called Lago Menor or Wiñaymarca (its size is 1,470 km2, or 16% of Lake Titicaca), Insular District of Anapia, province of Yunguyo, Puno department.
It can be reached by land from the city of Puno to the Punta Hermosa port on the Menor Lake, and then 30 km by lake, from that port, distant to the city of Yunguyo. From Puno you take the road to Yunguyo, the car trip takes 2 hours, and from there to Punta Hermosa in 30 minutes. From this point you take a motorboat for about 1 hour until you reach the island of Anapia.

When arriving at the Yuspique Island, the visitor is taken to the upper part to appreciate the vicuñas of the community, which surpass the hundred. Then the traveler is guided to a viewpoint that pre-Inca times served to observe the stars depending on the decisions demanded by the agricultural activity. Nearby are Chullpas (stone tombs) belonging to the Pukina culture. In this sector of Yuspique rotating crops of potatoes, beans and barley are also appreciated, always thought to feed the population following systems that instead of impoverishing the land, keep it alive and fertile.
It is recommended to stay for as long as necessary to enter the complex world of this community with living culture, which maintains its ancestral customs despite the time. Two days and one night may be insufficient.
