There are 5000 years, during the Late Archaic period (3000 - 1800 BC), the gross settlement participated in the process of formation of the first Andean civilization. The extraction of marine resources, in particular pieces (anchovies and sardines) and shellfish, allows the integration of the exchange network with the inhabitants of the interior of the valley, among them the Sacred City of Caral, from which I obtain agricultural products. In particular, cotton fiber would be needed for the manufacture of fishing nets and fishing boats, floats and plant products for food. The Rugged Archaeological Site has approximately 30 buildings, some of them with monumental characteristics, such as: Huaca Alta, Huaca de los Ídolos and Huaca de los Sacrificios; among the smaller constructions elite residential units, underground warehouses, housing estates have been identified; etc. The buildings are distributed around a space open to the central square, where the facades were oriented. Currently, the central square is converted into fields of cultivation and a total. Likewise, the archaeological site is being studied by the Caral - Supe Special Archaeological Project, offering the services of guided tours and sale of handicrafts.
The Rough Archaeological Site, located 500 meters from the Pacific Ocean, on the banks of the Supe River, in a natural environment made up of sandy hills, wetlands, farmland and the marina. To access the Archaeological Ensemble of Rough, a road established 2 kilometers west of Plazuela Grau is used, through the Pérez de Cuellar Urbanization in the Supe Puerto District.
The archaeological site is in a good state of conservation since, since March 2005, the Caral - Supe Special Archaeological Project has been working in parallel on a scientific study and the physical conservation of monuments, on the value of our finances. and the search for the application of a comprehensive program with the purpose of promoting the socioeconomic development of the population of the Supe Puerto district and the Barranca province.
